Orange County Patio Cover Construction

Part Three: Patio Cover Construction

The third and final part of this Mission Viejo Patio Remodel is this custom wood balcony to patio cover tie in.  Our expert teams took the previously bland space and added this important new element.  The sturdy custom wood balcony construction adds a whole new space to the house.  With a view like this home has, the balcony addition was absolutely essential to maximizing the potential of this family’s backyard space.  If you want to capitalize on your view, call TRU Landscape for professional patio cover construction.

Patio Cover Construction Orange County BalconyIn a warm climate like Orange County, backyard shade is absolutely essential for entertaining guests!  The previously wide open backyard now has several square feet of shade provided by this new patio cover.  It is 10-15 degrees cooler in the shade than in direct sunlight.  A patio cover also provides the option of installing overhead misters.  Rain or shine, a patio cover is an excellent addition to any backyard space.

Customize your Patio Cover Installation

There are other options for patio cover construction from variations on columns, lighting fixtures, and tongue in groove construction style.  We can wrap your posts with a decorative pilaster.  This will add interest to the columns of your new patio cover.  They also make a great landing area to place potted plants. There are many options.  We could add a simple stucco finish, or we could attach just about any stone from slate to stacked stone.

Landscape Lighting Orange County

TRU Landscape Services is also a full service landscape lighting technician.  We install high grade low voltage LED lighting systems.  The small lights pictured here are LED and save a lot of power while still sufficiently lighting the outdoor space.  Other options include can lighting.   A can light is built flush to the ceiling of a patio cover and is a 120 volt light.  They are a little bit brighter, give a different look, and give you the option of hooking up a dimmer switch to your system so you can set mood lighting.  Another LED lighting options include up lighting to shed light on your plants, pool, or home at night time.

Custom Patio Cover Styles

Our Orange County patio covers come in many styles.  There is the open lattice patio cover like the one pictured here.  We also install many solid roof style patio covers.  It all depends on your home’s style and the functionality that you hope to get out of the patio cover.  We can do a full roof tie in for a seamless new outdoor area as well.

Orange County Stamped Concrete Patio

Once the space was finished and the homeowners had settled into their new outdoor living area, they sent TRU Landscape some pictures to show us the finished product.  The patio cover provided a place to hang lights over their new outdoor dining table.  They told us how much they love sitting on their newly constructed balcony and watching the sun set over Mission Viejo.

The complete backyard landscape remodel really made some happy customers!  With the barbecue island, stamped concrete, low voltage lighting, and custom patio cover, the family was thrilled with their new space.

Call TRU Landscape Services for sturdy landscape construction will last a lifetime.

Sitting underneath the patio cover, you can enjoy the view and keep cool in the shade!

The remodel has created an excellent outdoor living area perfect for family and friends.  The area is connected directly to the house, so it’s as seamless going outdoors as moving from room to room.  What a relaxing area!

Orange County Stamped Concrete Patio

Leading down from the Orange County Stamped Concrete Patio are wide rounded steps.  The width of the steps make the patio area so much more accessible than it used to be.  The raised area used to only have a small step path leading up to it.  Now the entire area is opened up!

Wide rounded concrete steps mimic the curve of the pool

The stamped concrete gives a unique character to the space that you can’t get with ordinary unfinished concrete.  It is also sturdier and safer to have around the pool.  When it comes to Orange County Concrete for your landscape, we’re the only company you’ll need to call.  Our company can take you from the landscape design, through demolition, to a finished product all under one roof!

Custom Wood Patio Covers

This patio cover was built as a “tie-in” to the house’s existing roof.  It matches the current roof perfectly and is tied into the house on 3 sides which adds a 580 sq ft of indoor / outdoor area!  here’s a look under the patio cover at the space.  It’s the perfect relaxing outdoor kitchen and dining area.

Irvine Landscaping Company

Choosing the Right Licensed Landscape Contractor

(part one of a two part post about an Irvine Landscaping project)

Sometimes you need to hire a professional landscape company.  For our latest project in Irvine, the customer needed a bonded and licensed landscape contractor to follow the plans authorized by their Home Owner’s Association. Irvine is a quickly growing, master-planned community, so many of our jobs in Irvine are for new home owners and require the consent of an HOA. We met our customer a few months back when they first moved into their home.  They already had a plan for the Irvine  landscaping submitted to the HOA and were waiting to get approval before starting the work.

Irvine Landscaping Company

One Irvine Landscaping Company for One Landscape

Once they were approved, we gave them an estimate and were hired for the job because we could complete the entire job under one roof.  The customer wanted a backyard patio area surfaced with interlocking pavers and a fresh landscape with a new sprinkler system.  They took estimates from a couple of companies, but most of these other landscape companies only did hardscape or just softscape.  This was a major problem for our customer because both were required for this project.  They have moved several times in the last 10 years and have  played the contractor game before.

Irvine Landscaping Company

One major problem with this “game” of hiring multiple contractors for one landscape is that projects take longer to complete and companies get in each others’ way.  Oftentimes a project will sit unfinished because one contractor has to wait on another to complete his or her portion of the work.  What a headache! This is why our customer wanted one landscaping company to install all of their outdoor elements. Do I need a Licensed Landscape Contractor? Another company that the customer really liked didn’t have a license or insurance.  We were told that many of the new home owners hired this contractor for their large projects.  In fact, this other company is a fairly popular Irvine landscaping contractor in that area. This raises some questions.

Pavers by a Licensed Landscape Contractor

Do you need a contractor’s  license to landscape someone’s house?

The answer is YES.  Any project over $600.00 requires a license in the State of California.  Most hardscape jobs are over this minimum limit. The next question is: What are the downsides to hiring an unlicensed contractor?  Without insurance or a bond, there is nothing to protect the customer from faulty work. An unlicensed landscape contractor can walk away with your money even if they install something like a gas line the wrong way and cause serious damage to your property!  Because of this, for all larger jobs it is best to hire a licensed landscape contractor like TRU Landscape Services (our license number is C-27 894221). Custom Patio Cover and Fire Pit

Off of a referral, TRU Landscape Services was called out to Cypress California for an estimate on a new landscape design. The main elements in this design were a new fire pit and a backyard patio cover. Because they had already seen our work at another project in the Cypress area, this customer knew what they wanted.  Whether you have a detailed idea for your landscape, or just a general notion, TRU Landscaping takes pride in crafting the perfect environment for you and your family.

Watch the video below for an overview of the project!

Cypress Outdoor Living

Our customer was looking for a custom designed wood patio cover to provide shade for their outdoor living area and the rest of the backyard. Shade from a patio cover not only benefits the backyard landscaping, but may also have an effect on the temperature indoors. After the custom patio cover was installed, our customer estimated that the temperature in the house went down by 10 degrees because of the addition! There are several types of patio covers a customer can choose from. Different models from open lattice to pergola and different woods and stains can give your yard a unique feel. Call our professional sales staff to help you design the right patio cover for your yard.

Quality Craftsmanship

A Beautifully Stained Custom Patio Cover

A properly balanced landscape is an important aspect of TRU Landscape Services landscape design. For example, we seek to soften hardscape and concrete installations with grass and plants, and structure your garden with pathways and other elements. Too large of a patio cover can make your yard feel small. These are some of the things that our professional landscapers take into consideration when helping our customer create a balanced landscape design.  In a city like Cypress, outdoor living is just a phone call away. Orange County Fire Pits

Stacked Stone Fire Pit and Planter Wall

TRU Landscaping Services knows how important it is for families to spend quality time together, so when we are designing your landscape we always try to include spaces that encourage conversation. A fire element belongs in any backyard landscape as a focal point. There are several popular fire elements that could have been used on this particular landscaping project. Our customer really liked the fire pit their friends had in their back yard, so we designed a similar one for this space. Fire pits not only provide a unique elemental flare, but more practically, they provide warmth to those enjoying the backyard. Orange County can get a little cold during the winter months, but having one of our custom built fire pits will extend the use of your outdoor living space year round.

Planter Walls lead the eye toward the focal point

A fire pit and planter wall complete the yard!

Another fire element that is popular among home owners is a fire table. A fire table is an outdoor surface with a fire ring in the middle of the table! An unmissable and entertaining attraction. There are several types of these tables on the market; however, TRU Landscape Services builds a fire table that will last for several years to come unlike those sold by the big department stores. We have been building fire elements in Orange County for the last 20 years. Click this link to find out the difference between our custom fire tables and those sold in stores. This project took our crews 2 weeks to complete and the customer was already talking about having another part of their yard landscaped by us.
